"4th Annual Cruisin Against MS Club Challenge"
Background: My wife, Jacki was diagnosed four years ago with Multiple Sclerosis after suffering with the symptoms for almost 12 years. I have to give my wife a lot of credit, MS is a chronic, often disabling disease that attacks your nervous system. The progress, severity, and specific symptoms of the disease cannot be predicted and symptoms may range from numbness to paralysis to blindness. I know this disease can tend to wear a person down but she never complains. She is always on the go with her job and taking care of us, it’s got to take it’s toll and she just pushes the MS aside to make it though another day. She’s a person that always put others first regardless of how she is feeling and I must admit, regrettably that sometimes I forget to take notice of that. I know that with such a strong will she will survive this disease and beat it. Why we Walk...Jacki's Story a link to her Personal Page: MS Ladybug Some History 2006: We asked the Garden State Crewzers (our Home Club) for some support for Jacki's MS Walk. We hoped we'd get a few dollars in donations and some words of encouragement. What we ended up with was a 12 Member Team now established as Team Cruisin Against MS. These guys are dedicated...last year the walk was accompanied by what could be called a monsoon, yet they were all there for the day of the walk and "Team Cruisin Against MS" rasied $2110.00! 2007: For 2007, Team Cruisin Against MS and all clubs participating in the Cruisin Against MS Club Challenge raised $4500 That was over a 100% increase from the previous year! Special thanks go out to Jim Thistlewood for the concept and to the Lone Wolf Outlaw Cruisers and the Garden State Cruisers Crewzers for helping in the execution. Additional thanks go out to all the clubs and team members who got involved to raise money to help find a cure for Multiple Sclerosis. 2008: For 2008, Team Cruisin Against MS and all clubs participating in the Cruisin Against MS Club Challenge raised over $4300! That brings our fundraising efforts to almost $11,000 for the past three years! This year we expanded the number of clubs invovled to eight, including our first international participating club from Australia. Special thanks again go out to Jim Thistlewood and the Lone Wolf Outlaw Cruisers for their outstanding fundraising efforts for this year. We'd also like to thank John Abella of the Garden State Crew-zers for continually donating his time and effort for updating our team banner. Additional thanks go out to all the clubs and team members who got involved to raise money to help find a cure for Multiple Sclerosis. 2009: For 2009, Team Cruisin Against MS and all clubs participating in the Cruisin Against MS Club Challenge raised $6,176.00. We really blew away our goal of $3500 that we had set for ourselves this year. We want to thank all the PT Clubs that have gotten involved in the MS "Club Challenge"!! The five (5) clubs involved have gone above and beyond to help us raise awareness and funds for this cause. Present To help Jacki and Team Cruisin Against MS with our fundraising efforts to help find a cure for Multiple Sclerosis we have again initiated the following for 2010: "The 4th Annual Cruisin Against MS Club Challenge" The Lone Wolf Outlaw Cruiser will present the club raising the most donations for the cause a Commemorative Plaque displaying their achievement.
